The story
The inn opened in 1926 out of a partnership among St. Clair’s wealthiest residents. Its half-timbered, two-story Tudor Revival building faces the St. Clair River; the builders deliberately used over-burned English brick laid irregularly for an aged look. A modern north wing with forty more rooms, conference rooms and an indoor pool was added in 1978. The inn was fully renovated in 2019.
