The story
Irish immigrants Thomas and Bridget Donnelly built Cloghaun in 1884, naming it after Thomas’s hometown in County Galway. Bridget’s uncle Charles O’Malley had funded their emigration and built the original Island House in 1852. The house is filled with antiques, many original to Cloghaun, and family photographs dating to the mid-1800s. It is run by Jim Bond, the builders’ great-grandson.
