The story
The main hotel grew out of a mid-19th-century residence that was repeatedly extended between the 1880s and about 1920 into a long, four-story Queen Anne hotel with a porch along its length. The National Register listing calls it the only surviving 19th-century hotel in Ogunquit that still serves as a hotel and keeps its historic look. The property also includes a c. 1900 Shingle Style cottage built for the hotel’s proprietor, now the Beach Rose Building, and motel blocks from about 1961 and 1983.
