The story
German immigrant August Tetzlaff completed his brick building in October 1897 and leased the ground-floor saloon to Michael Reneke, with a brothel upstairs. A year later the back rooms became a Chinese chop house, part of the ‘Saloon Row’ that gave Williams its rough reputation; the brick survived several town fires. The upstairs rooms, laid out for the bordello, now hold four guest rooms named for their former occupants.
