The story
After the 1900 fire destroyed Whiskey Row, the two-story Grand Saloon & Hotel opened at 154 South Montezuma in 1903. Howard Hinson Sr. later bought the building, with its 16 upstairs guest rooms, and renamed it the Highland Hotel; he bought the building next door in 1971. The hotel now operates as the Grand Highland on Whiskey Row.
