The story
Samuel Paddock Strong, son of General Samuel Strong who directed the Vermont militia at the Battle of Plattsburgh during the War of 1812, built the house in 1834. It is considered one of the best-preserved Federal and Greek Revival homes in the area. Interior features include a free-standing staircase with curly maple railings and a black seashell-marble fireplace in the morning room. The house was listed on the National Register in 1979.
