The story

Albert G. Farr, a Chicago banker whose family came from Brandon, built the house as a summer home called The Arches, named for the arcaded entrance pavilion across its facade. The National Register nomination calls it among the most magnificent early Georgian Revival houses in Rutland County. The inn says the house was built for entertaining, with large guest rooms and en-suite baths, and its original layout survives. Its current owners, the Sawyers, have updated the house and gardens as an inn and wedding venue.
