The story
Richard Ransom Jr. built a brick store for gristmill workers in South Woodstock in 1822; it is now the inn’s Historic Building. The brick Federal main house followed for the Ransom family and served as an inn and tavern, and National Hall was built in 1848 to connect the two. Early in the 1900s the property ran as the Colonial Inn. Under Paul Kendall’s ownership from 1960 to 1985, the Log Lodge and pond were added.
