The story

The house was built in 1804 for the Reverend William Jackson, pastor of the Dorset church from 1796 to 1842. Experience and Theresa Barrows bought it in 1900 and ran it as a farm and country inn for travelers and summer boarders, converting the stables, blacksmith cottage and chicken coop into guest quarters. The inn says a 1939 fire destroyed the rear wing. The Dorset Inn’s owners bought the property in 2012 and reopened it in 2013 after a full renovation.
