The story
James Thompson Randall bought a boardinghouse on the site in 1854 and renamed it the Hotel Randall; it burned in 1902 and its rebuilt successor burned on November 20, 1925. The present Colonial Revival building opened in July 1926. In 1937 North Conway native Harvey Dow Gibson, president of Manufacturers Trust, bought it, renamed it the Eastern Slope Inn and used it to promote downhill skiing alongside his Cranmore ski area. Eastern Mountain Sports converted it to retail in 1977, and an ownership group turned it back into a hotel around 1982.
