The story
The first building on the site was a stagecoach stop and tavern built in 1824, the year Millersburg became the Holmes County seat. Sampson Bever erected much of the present building in 1847 as the Central Hotel. It was renamed the American Hotel in 1905 and became Hotel Millersburg after World War I. Former President Grover Cleveland signed the register on December 8, 1900, and a copy hangs in the first-floor hallway.
