The story
Mary Emery founded Mariemont in the 1920s as a ‘National Exemplar’ of town planning and hired planner John Nolen, who laid out the village around the inn and town square. Zettle and Rapp designed the three-story, timber-and-brick Tudor Revival inn as a V-shaped complex of shops and hotel facing the central green. The inn originally also held community banquet rooms, and it was sold to a private owner in 1945. Every one of its 45 rooms has a fireplace.
