The story
The Buckeye Building was headquarters of the Buckeye State Building and Loan Company and, after 1949, Buckeye Federal Savings and Loan. It stood vacant for more than ten years before Concord Hospitality and Lubert Adler announced a hotel conversion in 2004. Concord opened the Residence Inn on February 25, 2008 after an 18-month, $24 million renovation. The former banking hall keeps its coffered 40-foot ceiling and marble floors and columns, and breakfast is served in the old bank vault.
