The story

Built in 1924 for guests arriving by passenger train, the George Washington was the first southern hotel in the American Hotel Corporation’s chain of ‘Colonial Hotels’. The five-story building, among Winchester’s tallest and its first fire-proof hotel, has a grand entrance, lobby, ballroom and dining room. A complete rehabilitation restored it before it reopened in May 2008.
