The story
The five-story brick hotel opened as the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, designed by H.L. Stevens & Company of New York. Its mezzanine holds a restored 1924 Wurlitzer organ that HHA calls the only known working example of its kind. The rooftop neon sign was erected about 1950. A 2018 renovation refreshed guestrooms, the lobby and event space, and the hotel has since been renamed Hotel 24 South.
