The story
Miller & Rhoads was Richmond’s leading department store for more than a century, known for fashion shows, luncheons and its Tea Room. Its seven-story store on East Broad Street was designed by Starrett & Van Vleck. The hotel restored the store’s entertainment spaces as restaurants and event rooms, and the 1885 Cafe and Market occupies the former Tea Room.
