The story
J.B. Mosby & Co. moved from a smaller store at 11-17 West Broad to this six-story building in 1916, designed by Starrett & Van Vleck, the New York firm behind Lord & Taylor and Saks stores. After Mosby’s closed, Sears, Roebuck & Co. occupied the building. The Ukrop family converted it into the art-focused Quirk Hotel, which opened in September 2015.
