The story
Dr. Paul Barringer, who came to the University of Virginia’s medical faculty in 1888 and was largely responsible for building the University Hospital in 1901, built and lived at 100 Oakhurst Circle; his daughter Anna lived next door at 102. The two houses became known as the Barringer Apartments and stayed in the family until 1979. The buildings served as student and faculty housing until an 18-month renovation began in 2012, and the inn opened in 2014.
