The story

Joseph Howar built the 11-story apartment house to David L. Stern’s design under a December 1927 permit, a brick and limestone building at the corner of I Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. It later became a hotel; sources disagree on when (the hotel says after a 1970s renovation, Wikipedia says 1994). Its location near the White House, World Bank and IMF draws diplomats, and Wikipedia records that Mexico’s president Andrés Manuel López Obrador stayed here in 2022.
