The story
Arthur B. Heaton designed The Highlands, an eight-story luxury apartment house on Connecticut Avenue, in 1902. It was later converted to a hotel and operated under other names, including the Pullman Highland Hotel and Hotel Sofitel, before becoming The Churchill. The fireplace in the Highland Suite is original to the building.
