The story
The two-and-a-half-story, balloon-frame First Colony Inn was built in 1932 in the vernacular Shingle Style, wrapped in a two-story veranda. It was built during the expansion of beach tourism along the Outer Banks in the 1920s and 1930s. Threatened at its original site, it was moved a short distance south in August 1988 and listed on the National Register in 1993.
