The story
The Magnolia was built as a tall two-and-a-half-story Queen Anne house with projecting bays and a wraparound porch. In 1914 it was converted to its present Colonial Revival form, with a truncated hip roof, pedimented dormers and a massive porch on Tuscan posts. The 1973 district nomination cites it as typical of the boarding houses built when the village was founded. Pinehurst Resort fully renovated its eight guest rooms in 2022.
